Introduction

The Good Life?  13th June

Are we really living the 'good life'?  Or could it be that the lifestyle we are living today is actually harming our health?  Considering modern lifestyle diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and heart problems we discussed how simple changes to our diet and lifestyle could improve, if not reverse, the effects of these diseases on our health.

By eating more plant based foods, prepared and cooked as close to their natural forms as possible then we can actually reduce the amounts of fat that we store when we eat a typical western diet.  In fact healthproblems such as diabetes and hypertension were largely unknown in western societies (as they still are in many societies today) before World War 1.  Only with the introduction of more processed foods to 'improve' the western diet did these diseases become so prevelent.

Samples of healthy vegetarian foods were tasted, recipes are given here.
